So far, they have been rude and sarcastic and combative over the phone. I haven't been to the local office yet, however I expect more of the same.
See above. Since I can't give it a zero, I'll give it one with the following comments. After trying to reach the IRS (federal government) three times (on hold 3 hours) and then have them cut me off twice, I called the local office. Hello--is there anyone there? No. It is a wasted call. In the meantime I have a deadline to do what I need to do. The local office should be accessible. I hope we aren't paying tax dollars to keep this office open.
Is the office EVER OPEN??! I have gone to the SF office 4 times in the last week. The first time I went I did not have an appointment but they were not open anyway. I called the (844)545-5640 number and they scheduled me for Wed at 8:45am. At 7:50 i receive a call that they would be closed due to "unforeseen circumstances" and scheduled me for the following day. I show up before 1PM and I was able to get into the building this time and guess what, they were CLOSED AGAIN! (It was open because the person who cleans the office was there) They also had a sign on the inside that actually had their business hours unlike the one for the outside doors that is blank all the way across. It stated that they are actually closed on Wed&Thurs. So whoever made my appointments was completely wrong. Then they scheduled me for 4PM on Friday 5/26 and I just received a call from the same woman stating that she does not know why they scheduled me if they were going to be closed again today and I can "MAYBE" be seen on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week 5/30-5/31. She said maybe because she is not sure what days they will be open because of their "unforeseen circumstances". I asked if the SF office is EVER open because I have been there everyday this week with nobody ever there, and she told me that the only guarantee would be to go to Albuquerque. I told her I have a deadline for financial aide and I can lose it because I am at the very end now and I live almost 3 hours away from Alb and have two kids under 5 so it is not an option. At this point, why even have an office in SF? They are such a waste of time. I understanding showing up without having an appointment but why make people some if you are not going to be there or constantly want to reschedule because you are never there?! We should not be given the run around because they can't get their SH** together!!!! They need to just be closed down and let people know that or hire other people that can be there to do what they are paid for!!! She said unforeseen circumstances at the beginning of the week and I am not guaranteed to be seen next week because of unforeseen circumstances, well they don"t seem that unforeseen now.
No phone help. That is too easy, you need to go up there and visit.
"No live telephone service provided" like really, it has been more than 21 days for my refund to get here, it says "call us" but all there is are machines, no people. Pathetic service.
IRS in Lawton, Ok has 4-5 star ratings and they deserve it. They are some of the most sweet, compassionate, and efficient office. I never expected such nice service from the IRS
