I wanted to start by thanking the entire staff for an unbelievable weekend stay with them, so kind and accommodating it was a wonderful experience! Site we camped at was perfect, clean and hook ups were situated well. Gift shop and store was clean well stocked and a great way to spend some money out of the rain. We had forgotten a couple of items due to this being only our second outing in our new travel trailer and we were able to find what we needed at their on site store which was awesome. Thank you for a memories, we will be returning often.
The owner told me to find a spot that worked for the bike and gave me 4 choices with 20 amp. I found one, but had to move camp. Not fun.
I set up camp in the spot they assigned, after I told them I was on a motorcycle and needed a spot that would allow me to park.
This campground took the stress away from the trip from hell. We were a group of five in two tents, and they gave us a beautiful spot more than large enough for our needs. Campground was clean, shady, and peaceful. Right between Vegas and Santa Fe, great location. Front desk was sweet, and very understanding of a predicament that forced me to postpone payment. I will surely be returning.
All was set up, so I went to plug in my charger. No 20 amp outlet. Only a 3-prong 30 amp.
Also, they, as do most campgrounds, need to put electricity at the tent sites. This would attract more campers since all are in the digital age and need to charge their devices.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I found out quickly, though, that motorcycles have a tough time finding a solid place to camp.
We stayed a month and found plenty of interesting things to do in the Santa Fe / Taos areas. The campground is on the side of a hill; the sites at the bottom along the highway are flat and easily negotiable. The sites farther up the hill among the trees can be challenging for longer rigs to maneuver around, and the trees have the battle scars to prove it. The roads/sites on the hilly sections need some grading/leveling. Campground management was very nice and helpfull. Restrooms were fine. There is a small pool, WIFI and cable. Laundry seemed expensive. Our main advice: if your have a longer rig (ours is 36' 5th wheel), ask for a site down near the highway. We would return.
If you're in a self-contained rig, and don't need to use the marginal restroom or park a bike, then it would be a nice place.
Often the term "rustic" in campground reviews is code for filthy. Not so here. This place is a gem. Its a beautiful spot that maintains a fun rustic feel while offering beautiful, impeccably maintained facilities. It has a warm atmosphere, much more character than your average rv campground. The pool and play area are great, trail is well maintained and perfect for a walk with the dogs or kids. There's even family movie every evening. Everyone working there is friendly and seems genuinely happy to be there. We loved it so much we extended by two days and were still sad to leave.
