Alright, so two of my friends and I had dinner elsewhere and decided to stop in to this Buffalo Wild Wings to have a few drinks. As you already assumed by my one star rating, we had a less than favourable time.
My bartender, Tish was awesome. Had great food and GREAT service! Go see a game there. Good times!
So let it be known that if they serve you just alcoholic drinks, they will attempt to make you buy food to continue drinking there, no matter how you feel, or appear.
This is all overshadowing a slow service time in the bar area, which we addressed shortly after our first drink order.
Melissa, our server, is awesome. The queso dip is amazing. So good I want to order some to take home. I have a food allergy, and Melissa went out of her way to make sure there wasn't any cross contamination.
Hadn't been here in quite awhile. Food has gotten better (very good even), and now they have excellent local beers like Elevated from La Cumbre and Double White from Marble. Service is usually courteous if not speedy. Makes for a good stop, especially at happy hour. Obviously, it's a chain sports bar, so set expectations accordingly....
You need to buy food...
One of our party members had two beers, and then continued drinking only water as he was our designated driver. The other party member and myself continued to have two or three additional drinks. At this time we were approached by the waitress, after attempting to order another round for the two of us that weren't driving, that there was a law in New Mexico stating that we had to order food in order to continue ordering alcoholic beverages. Then I asked her myself, "So I must order and consume food items, in direct view to you, in order to receive another drink?". Our waitress then agreed with the statement, and said it was true. This was immediately challenged by us as we demanded to speak to a manager.
Chicken Wings sucks!
Once the manager arrived, she then stated that their training to their employees recommends them to discontinue service of alcoholic drinks to people considered being "over served". Needless to say that the other member of our party and myself were well within our wits, and were not at all appearing "over served". She then began to state after we made the comment that we had a designated driver, "I don't know if you will go out and drive away, and then switch drivers".
We came in and ordered alcoholic beverages when we arrived. We politely declined food menus, as we explained to the waitress that we were only here to have a few drinks. So we continued to drink and play games on their tablets that they offer there, and things turned sour.
We explained to the manager that her justifiable reason to discontinue our dink orders, was not what our waitress had explained. We also immediately rejected her statement to the fact that one designated driver was not good enough, as we could easily switch drivers on her opinion. That was a ridiculous, and outlandish statement, that would result her in never serving anyone more than what could be considered over the legal limit. The manager then offered no resolve to this issue, as we then decided we did not want to continue giving any money to the establishment due to our dissatisfaction with the staff, and how they resolve the issues associated with poorly trained waitresses. She offered no apology or solution to the situation at hand, and had no problem with us leaving.
Visited other places. They make it so different here. Wings were hard and dry :/
I will add a caveat that this is the only time I've experienced this at a Buffalo Wild Wings.
