We had a nice time, and free admission, to boot. The museum is very well laid out and lighted. I recommend watching the video prior to touring the museum. In the room where the video is shown there is a timeline on the walls that shows not only Ms. O'Keefe's important dates, but corresponds them to important events going on in the world at those times. The museum is not always free. Contact them to find dates for free admission.
To be standing in the midst of genius. Awestruck. Go. Don't think just go. Black hollyhock. Wow. Lake in the forest. Just go.
Master artist O'Keeffe's works can be enjoyed at one's leisure or haste depending on one's time availability. A short film gives a brief overview of her life. Informative. The art exhibited is from the various stages of her artistic life. There is a visual timeline on 3 walls of the movie room. A museum not to be missed by an O'KEEFFE appreciator.
This museum doesn't have any of her most famous works; it's mostly early work, sketches, and other pieces I hadn't seen before. But if you're ok with that, it's still awesome. Some of the pieces just made me weep, they are so deeply suffused with a rare spiritual sensuality. I was very moved.
Loved looking around, wish there was more to see.
I had a nice time with a friend. Certainly some beautiful work. I felt the videos really enhanced the experience, but the longer one is very visually outdated. Highly recommend that it be redone if at all possible.
