Absolutely love this place! My Mom also loved this place as well. I learned quite a bit of all the cultures that are presented here. Also enjoy looking at all the beautiful jewelry wishing I could buy it for yourself and/or your mom but are a little pricey for a college student's budget.
The exhibits are interesting and super cool. Staff was friendly. Overall a great cool experience!
Fun little tour. We thought the items were rather new for a museum. One of the rooms was nothing but dioramas and toys. Tell me: what does mecha toys have to do with folk art?
Fabulous place with creative art from numerous cultures. I was there for the special Dia de los Muertos event.
The employee who showed me how to flow through the exhibit halls never offered me a guide book or an audio tour headset. I went back to ask for the headset and was given one with the caveat that it was not very helpful as it only guided about 20+ dioramas, so I stopped using it after the second stop. Even with the guide book I found the main hall very difficult to navigate and the organization of the exhibits was, well, disorganized. I met several other people in the main hall having the same problem. The exhibit on the international folk art festival contributors was good. The best part was the Tramp Art exhibit and the video interviews with Freeland Tanner of Napa. When I inquired if he and his house survived the Napa fires last week, no one knew.......Sorry, but I should have gone to a different museum today.
