Dined in Saturday night around 7pm. I was in a party of 7 people. The waitress that waited on us never refilled our drinks. She didn't know the menu, nor did she attempt to take care of us. There was 3 other tables with customers, not busy at all. This establishment lacked customer service and food was decent at best. That why they received 2 stars or it would have been a 1.
We wound up at La Fogata because Tia Sophia's stops breakfast at 11am. We're glad they did. La Fogata serves breakfast until 3pm...tasty, friendly, cozy and quiet. 5 Stars. Love those black beans. Appreciate the owner stopping by to say Hello and check the table. Good, hard-working female chef keeps the wood-fired grill going. Colorful indoor patio for dining or celebrating. Casual seating, groups to singles. Beer and wine bar. Taco Tuesday Evenings include free, live mariachi, 3 tacos for $12.
Signage on the street is poor, but it's there and worth looking for. Hidden gem. Great food. Started with fried plantains with mole, OMG. Then had shrimp with garlic, great. Cilantro rice, tasty. Ignore the touristy restaurants and go here. Casual. Good bar.
We stopped in on a typical Saturday. Kind of hard to find place. Not many people here on this afternoon. Maybe more later but... Two nice ladies serving the food. Fair service. They neglected a few things, like mentioning the heat level in the chicken enchiladas. My wife was crying in pain...yes I laughed. We are in counseling now. The chips are also a weird density, sort of like pita chips. Which doesn't seem to pair quite right with the tiny amount of salsa that was brought for my family to split. The food was cooked quickly and everything was good quality. I had the mole enchiladas. Really enjoyed them and the children's burgers with fries are a great size. The patio is also very cute.
What an incredibly nice surprise! This place rocks! My wife and I have been servers and know the restaurant business very well. Not only did this place have absolutely incredible food, especially for the price, the servers/hostess/manager were just simply great. We were in Santa Fe earlier than expected one morning and were kind of craving breakfast. It was about 10:00 am and there isn't much open for breakfast downtown. We saw their sign outside this shopping center that has multiple floors and lots of shops. Oh well, let's give it a shot we said. There isn't much open now anyway. WOW!!! It is so nice to get great food and have nice, conscientious service as well. My wife had a Chile Relleno omelet that was incredible, and I had the Colorado Eggs with Pork. We had mimosas to drink and literally felt like we won the lottery with finding this hidden gem. You will enjoy this place. It is very New Mexico style and high quality.
