It makes it hard to shop locally with service like this. If you want to treated poorly shop here. Friends have also said this shop has charged them twice for purchases on their credit cards and argued about the charges.
Fortunately the hardware shop next store has a pleasant owner and good selection.
I find the folks at Allbright & Lockwood knowledgable and helpful and pleasant. True they are transplants, so maybe not as laid back as true locals, but they've paid their dues and made a go of it. As far as the shop next door - good luck! It's been impossible to locate the owner to do business with him. The folks at Allbright will treat you right.
We have made several purchases at Allbright & Lockwood. The people there are friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The other two google reviews are a bit odd. The store was founded by a Santa Fe architect over twenty years ago, so they are indeed "local." The other said that they "had friends" who'd had their credit cards over-billed by A&L. A&L does not accept credit cards. All purchases are cash or check only.
