My family dr, whose opinion I respect, referred me to Dr Brown for 2 gyn issues. I have been very satisfied with the care I received, the dr and his office staff.
I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr.Brown. He delivered both my boys and made sure I was taken care of both pregnancies.
Regarding the place, I do not think the office has ever been updated. The ladies at front desk do not have even a computer (a single one). They make the appointments on paper and although they come across as nice, addressing me with "honey" or "sweety" on a distorted voice reminded me of a cheep restaurant (and there I do not mind it, actually). They did not even have covers to give to you. I remember asking at some point (I was quite advanced in my pregnancy) and the nurse threw at me a small towel which did not even covered my hips from one side to another. The doctor was not there for delivery but neither any of the doctors he "tells you" he works with. And while he made an effort to show some interest after I turned 38 weeks, two weeks before delivery, it felt completely unnatural at that point. So, this is my experience with Dr. Brown. I was a first time mom and if I have to do it over again, I would change this one after the first walk in that dingy office. No matter what people say, in a business like this, the way you present yourself from the first door to the last, says a lot about you. At the end of the day, each of us pay quite a lot and I believe that if you lost your dedication (that in case this doctor ever had it) then you should go and find work somewhere else, doing obviously something else.
I moved to Santa Fe when I was already 5 months pregnant and after calling few doctors that the insurance provided, Dr. Brown was the only one who accepted me. I was quite happy to find someone but as the time went by I regretted the choice I made (and not going to Albuquerque) to find a better match for me. People underestimate the importance of good relationship with your doctor while pregnant. They might think the experience is everything (and this one practiced for almost 20 years) but he lacked everything else (bed manners, communication, attention to things other than your blood pressure).
