The staff member also provided useful information about preventive measures to avoid insect bites, since most of the diseases (Zika, chikungunya, malaria, Japanese encephalitis, typhoid) are mosquito-borne. She described some precautions for food safety and water safety. Even this was customized – she kept this part of the briefing relatively short, as I have lived in developing countries for about 10 years and already knew much of this.

She then made specific recommendations for vaccinations, for malaria prophylaxis, and for post-travel follow-up.
Marci is the most wonderful nurse ever. She's exceptional at giving injections and at making you feel as comfortable as possible during the process. Plus, you get a sucker after it's over!
